The Coastal Suburbs Shaping the Next Chapter of the Region

Every region has a handful of suburbs that quietly set the tone for everywhere else. On the Sunshine Coast that list is not fixed, and part of our launch project is mapping the places that feel like they are entering a new phase.

Some of that change is obvious: a long-discussed precinct finally breaking ground, or a high street that has gradually shifted from service shops to cafes and studios. Other shifts are softer, visible only in school catchment data or the kinds of homes coming onto the market.

Rather than rank suburbs, we want to describe them. What is the daily rhythm? Who is moving in, who is staying, and what does the local economy look like beyond the postcard view? That descriptive work is the foundation for the more pointed coverage that follows.

Expect regular suburb notebooks from the TSCB Desk: short, observational pieces that sit alongside our harder reporting on planning, property and community services. Together they should give readers a fuller picture than any single data set.
