A Guide to Family-Friendly Community Spaces Across the Region

Some of the most valuable infrastructure on the Sunshine Coast does not look dramatic. It is the local library, the shaded playground, the council pool, the community hall that hosts everything from yoga to youth group.

Our Community coverage will spend real time on these spaces, because they are where a region's quality of life is actually lived. We want to write about how they are funded, how they are used, and how they evolve as nearby suburbs change.

Expect practical guides for families: which spaces work best in summer, where to go on a rainy afternoon, which libraries run the best school holiday programs. Alongside those guides, we will report on the policy decisions that affect whether these spaces stay open and accessible.

We are also interested in the people who keep these spaces running. Librarians, lifeguards, hall caretakers and volunteer committees rarely get profiled, and they should.
